Our client, a regional pharmacy operator, faced an audit determination totaling $1.9 million in alleged co-payment collection and inventory shortage violations. Upon engagement, our team conducted a methodical re-examination of the auditor's methodology, focusing on the technical assumptions underlying the initial assessment. After analyzing our client's purchase history documentation and performing a granular analysis of the claimed discrepancies using AI-enabled techniques and proprietary methodology honed through decades of experience, we identified numerous audit errors and instances where the audit's models had been applied without adequate consideration for the pharmacy's specific operational protocols.

Through a comprehensive appeal submission supported by detailed reconciliation analysis and regulatory precedent, we successfully convinced the PBM to reduce the determination to just over $200,000—an 88% reduction from the initial assessment. We are now working to reduce or eliminate the remaining findings.

This matter underscores the critical importance of challenging audit findings with rigorous documentation and technical expertise. Many pharmacy audits contain methodological errors or overly broad interpretations of regulatory requirements that can be successfully addressed through informed advocacy. Our approach combines deep knowledge of pharmacy compliance frameworks with strategic positioning to achieve optimal outcomes for our clients in these complex disputes.
